FLARIS has taken off. Flight tests are in progress

kwi 10, 2019

Last week the Polish FLARIS LAR1 jet took to the skies for the first time. The purpose of the tests was to develop the optimal take-off and landing configuration and to check the efficacy of the airframe’s control system and stability.

The plane made twenty six difficult takeoffs and landings over the Babimost airport runway in Zielona Góra in variable atmospheric conditions. On April 5 the wind was unexpectedly gusty, with a crosswind component. This confirmed the effectiveness of the controls during acceleration, takeoff, climb, descent and landing.

– It was a difficult test for the plane and the whole FLARIS TEAM – says Head of the Flaris Program, Rafał Ładziński, Msc Eng. – The difficulty is that FLARIS LAR1 does not have a model. It is an airplane with an innovative airframe configuration.

An unprecedented advantage of FLARIS LAR1 is that it can take off and land on short grass airstrips. The expected range of the aircraft is over 3000km. The plane is equipped with an innovative emergency system for the entire aircraft and for the crew, thus setting new safety standards in the area of private and business travel.

– The price of FLARIS LAR1 and its operation costs will be a quarter of current market prices for planes in the light jet LJ category – assures Director Rafał Ładziński.
